The Best in Your Bar 2009 | Honors and Awards Luncheon 12:15 p.m. - 1:45 p.m.
The luncheon will feature presentations of awards honoring public service and the community lawyer.
John Hutson, Dean of Franklin Pierce Law Center, will speak on the role of the legal profession in the 21st century at the NHBA Midyear Meeting Honors & Awards luncheon. In recent years, Hutson, the Navy’s top lawyer before retiring to take the law school helm in 2000, has also become a national voice on issues of rule of law and the war on terror.
Hollman Award for Gender Equality Presented to Linda S. Paquette (Saunders)
Linda S. Paquette (Saunders) has been selected to be the recipient of the 2009 Hollman Award for Gender Equality. A Bar member and current Administrator for Continuing Improvement at the NH Department of Health and Human Services, Paquette is a former chair of the Gender Equality Committee and a leader in establishing the first 10-year survey of the status of women in the profession.
E. Donald Dufresne Award for Outstanding Professionalism This award, traditionally awarded during the Bar's Annual Meeting in June, will be awarded posthumously to Graham P. Chynoweth.
L. Jonathan Ross Award to Be Presented to Richard Uchida The L. Jonathan Ross Award for Outstanding Commitment to Legal Services for the Poor will be presented to Orr & Reno attorney Richard Uchida at the Honors & Awards Luncheon.
Vickie M. Bunnell Award for Community Service
Instituted in 1998 to honor the memory of Vickie M. Bunnell, “A Country Lawyer”, and to applaud the community spirit that is a hallmark of our profession this award is presented to an attorney from a small firm (four or fewer attorneys) who has exhibited dedication and devotion to community by giving of their time and talents, legal or otherwise.
Distinguished Service to the Public Award This award is presented to the nominee who best exhibits service to the public on behalf of the administration of justice.
Award for Outstanding Service in Public Sector/Public Interest Law NEW THIS YEAR! This award, being presented for the first time, recognizes a member of the NH Bar who works in government, military, law enforcement or public interest law, or entities from these sectors that employ members of the NH Bar, for exemplary service, mentoring, or accomplishments.
